Doctrinal Statement of Faith
We, the believers of Gilgal Pentecostal Church are committed to
the authority of the Holy Scripture for faith and direction. A
fellowship whose worship brings God's power into life of the church
and spreads out that power through the lives of believers into
the world. A body that is directed by the Spirit fully understanding
that baptism in water and the Holy Spirit is both a personal blessing
and an endowment of power for witness and service in fulfilling
the Great Commission. A people ready for the transformation into
conformity with Christ, in character and purpose.
A New Testament church which aims on the local congregation where
the pastor nurtures and leads all members to exercise spiritual
gifts in ministry. A church that loves all people and stands against
any action or policy that discriminates any group or individual
because of race, colour, or nationality. A movement that evidences
love and concern for the hurts and loneliness of the unsaved through
aggressive evangelistic, discipling and nurturing ministries.
A church that is Christ-centred, people-orientated which promotes
policies and ministries which replicate an open, sincere effort
to stay relevant to each generation.
A prophetic people who herald our Lord's return and a coming Kingdom.
The Scriptures.
The Bible consisting of sixty-six books is the inspired Word of
God, a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith
and conduct, superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary
to reason. It's a complete revelation of His will for the salvation
of men, and constituting the Divine and the only rule of Christian
faith and practice (Heb. 4:12; 2 Pet. 1:21, 23-25; 2 Tim. 3:15-17).
The Godhead.
The one true God who is perpetual, unbounded in power, wisdom
and goodness; Creator of all things, visible and invisible has
revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent, self-revealed
"I AM", In the unity of this Godhead, there are three
persons of one individual essence, who are co-equal, co-existent
and co-eternal; namely, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost
(Rom 1:20; Col 1:16 Deut. 6:4; Isa. 43:10; Matt. 28:19; Mark 12:29)
Man, his fall, and Redemption
God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness".
Though man was created good and upright, he fell by voluntary
transgression and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ,
the Son of God. "All have sinned and come short of the glory
of God". "As it is written, there is none righteous,
no, not one".Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested
to undo the work of the devil, and gave His life and shed His
blood to redeem and restore man to God. (Gen. 1:26-31; 3:1-7;
Rom 3:10, 23; 5:13-21; 1 John 3:8).
The Salvation of man
Conditions of Salvation- Salvation is made possible
through the commendable work of Jesus Christ on the cross and
through Holy Spirit conviction. Godly sorrow works repentance
and makes possible the experience of the new birth, and Christ
formed within us
is the gift of eternal life (Luke 24:47; Rom. 10-13-15; Titus
2:11; 3:5-7)
Evidences of Salvation- The inward evidence to
the believer of his salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit.
(Rom. 8:16). The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness
and true holiness.
Water Baptism
The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian's identification with
Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. This should be observed
as commanded in the scriptures by all who have really repented
and in their hearts, have truly believed in Christ as their Savior
and Lord. In doing so, they declare to the world that they have
died with Jesus, and that they have also been raised with Him
to walk in the newness of life. (Matt. 28:19; Acts 10:47; Rom.
6:4; Matt. 3:16). It is baptism by immersion in the name of the
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Lord's Supper
The Lord's Supper, consisting of the elements of bread and the
fruit of the vine, is a memorial of the suffering and death of
our Lord Jesus Christ, and a prophecy of His second coming. It
is to be partaken by all believers 'until He comes'. (Luke 22:17-20;
1 Cor. 10:16,17; 11:23-32 John 6: 48-51, 53-57).
The Promise of the Father
All believers are entitled to, and should ardently expect and
seek the promise of the Father which is the baptism of believers
in the Holy Spirit and Fire according to the command of our Lord
Jesus Christ. It is a gift from God, as promised by the Lord Jesus
Christ to all believers in this dispensation. With it comes the
endowment of Power for life, service, the bestowment of the gifts
and their uses in the work of the ministry. (Luke 24:49; Acts
1:4-8; 1 Cor. 12:1-31). This wonderful experience is distinct
from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth. (Acts
1:8; 2:4; 10:14-46; 15:7-9; 19:2).
The Evidence of Baptism in the Holy Spirit
The full consummation of the baptism of believers in the Holy
Spirit is evidenced by the initial, physical sign of speaking
with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and by the subsequent
manifestation of spiritual power in public testimony and service.
(Acts 1:8; 2:4, 19:2, 6; 10:44-46; 1 Cor.12:4-10, 28).
Complete Sanctification
The Scriptures teach a life of holiness without which no man shall
see God. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are able to obey
the command, "Be ye holy, for I am holy". Entire sanctification
is the will of God for all believers and should be earnestly pursued
by walking in obedience to the Word of God. (1 Thess. 5:22-24;
1Pet.1:15, 16; 1 John 2:6; 2 Cor. 7:1; Heb.12:14).
The Church
The Church is the body of Christ, the territory of God through
the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of the
Great Commission. Each believer born of the Spirit is an integral
part of the Church of the firstborn which is universal, invisible
and a sanctified Church which is the chaste virgin Bride of Christ.
(2 Cor 1:1, 2; Eph. 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 5:26,27; Heb. 12:23; Rev
21:9b, 27).
Ministry and Evangelism
A divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been
provided by our Lord for a twin purpose: Evangelization of the
world and Edification of the Body of Christ. God, through the
Holy Spirit, definitely calls such as He desires to serve as apostles,
prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, and specifically
endues the one called with the talents and gifts peculiar to that
office or offices (Mark 16:15, 20; Eph. 4:11-13).
Divine Healing
Healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought
by the power of God, through the prayer of faith, and by the laying
on of hands. Deliverance from sickness is provided in the atonement,
and it is the privilege of all believers. (Isa. 53:4, 5; Matt
8:16, 17; Mark 16:18 James 5:14-16).
The Blessed Hope
The pre-millennial Second Coming of Jesus Christ, the resurrection,
and the translation of those who have fallen asleep in Christ,
together with those who are alive and remain until the Second
Coming of the Lord, is imminent and is the blessed hope of the
Church. (Rom. 8:23; 1 Cor. 15:51-52; 1 Thess 4:16-18; Titus 2:13).
The Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ
The revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ from Heaven, the salvation
of Israel, and the Millennial Reign of Christ on the Earth, is
the scriptural promise and the world's hope. (Rom. 11:25-27; 2
Thess 1:7; Rev. 19:11-14; 20:1-7).
The Final Judgement
The one who physically dies in his sins without Christ is hopelessly
and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire, and therefore has no further
opportunity of hearing the Gospel or for repentance. There will
be a final judgement in which the wicked dead will be raised and
judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found written
in the Book of Life together with the devil and his angels, the
beast and the false prophet will be consigned to everlasting punishment
in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone which is the second
death. (Rev. 19:20; 20:10-15; 21:8; Matt 25:46; Heb 9:27).
The New Heaven and New Earth
We, "according to His promise, look for new Heavens and a
new Earth wherein dwelleth righteousness". (2 Peter 3:13).
